Motherwell assistant manager Scott Leitch

Motherwell assistant manager Scott Leitch says the club are ready to make their first moves in the summer transfer market.

The Lanarkshire side have failed to sign a single player so far, with Ross McCormack and Martin Grehan both leaving the club.

However, Leitch claims that a player could arrive by the end of the week.

Hearts' owner Vladimir Romanov says the club are still some way from appointing a new manager and that the new man in charge is unlikely to be Scottish.

Pat McCourt got a dream move to Scottish Premier champions Celtic

Nigel Worthington has hinted that new Celtic signing Pat McCourt will be in Northern Ireland's squad for the 20 August friendly against Scotland.

The skilful midfielder moved from Eircom League club Derry City to the SPL champions in June.

Feeney has scored twice for his country in 14 appearances

Dundee United have completed the signing of Cardiff City striker Warren Feeney on a season-long loan.

The 27-year-old will team up with fellow Cardiff player Willo Flood, who will spend a second season on loan at Tannadice next season.

McGregor's injury saw him miss the Uefa Cup final

Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor has been given permission to return to full training after recovering from ankle and knee injuries.

The 26-year-old has not played since sustaining damage to his ankle during an Old Firm defeat in April.

During his absence, McGregor underwent an operation to cure a knee problem.

Hibs manager Mixu Paatelainen insists he is busy searching for new recruits despite a lack of transfer activity.

Taouil first signed for Kilmarnock in October

Moroccan midfielder Mehdi Taouil has signed a new three-year contract with Jim Jefferies' Kilmarnock.

The 25-year-old joined the Scottish Premier League outfit on a three-month deal in October, having previously been with French club Montpellier.

He impressed manager Jefferies sufficiently to win a contract extension until the summer.

Now, despite interest from other clubs in the SPL, Taouil has committed himself to a long-term deal.

Mark Kerr

Aberdeen have agreed a deal to sign Mark Kerr after he reached the end of his contract at Dundee United.

Kerr, who began his career at Falkirk before moving to United in 2003, will sign a two-year contract next week providing he passes a medical.

The 26-year-old midfielder is currently on holiday but has committed to joining the Dons after five years with United.

He will add experience to Jimmy Calderwood's side after several senior players left at the end of last season.
