Glenn Loovens is on the verge of leaving Ninian Park for Glasgow Celtic. City have accepted a fee in the region of £2.5million and the 24-year-old is set to sign on the dotted line with the Scottish champions. The Bhoys beat arch-rivals Rangers to the player's signature - with the lure of European football enticing Loovens to Parkhead.

Loovens' departure does not come as a big surprise. The former Feyenoord starlet was unwilling to negotiate a new contract with the club - and with 12-months left on his existing deal, City risked losing Loovens on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Rangers have led the race for the defender - but their shock Champions League exit at the hands of Latvian side Kaunas made a move to Ibrox less attractive for the former Dutch under-21 international.

Crewe are set to swoop for long term target Clayton Donaldson from Hibs. The former York hit man is set to be named as Nicky Maynard's replacement following Maynard's move to Bristol City earlier in the week. Donaldson has been a long term target if Steve Holland's but has so far failed to capture his man due to Hibs' resistance to let Donaldson go. However, the 24 year old 'giant' has now been told he will be able to leave if the right offer came along. Donaldson moved up north in summer 2007 after a two year spell at York City, where he scored over 40 goals in 86 appearances. Donaldson, Bradford born, started his career at Hull City but only made a couple of appearances before leaving for York. His year at Hibs has been less than fruitful, with just 5 goals in 18 games.
