1:00:10 PM Caldwell keen to be Celt for life
Celtic defender Gary Caldwell has said he is keen to play for the Glasgow club for the remainder of his career. The 25-year-old Scotland international, signed by Gordon Strachan from Hibernian, is entering the final year of a three-year contract. Caldwell said: "If I was to stay at Celtic all of my professional life I would think that was great. "The situation is outside my control and it's up to other people to decide but I don't want to be anywhere else." Caldwell's comments come at a time when Strachan has been attempting to reshape his defence. He has released centre-half Steven Pressley and the club has stated that Bobo Balde can leave on a free transfer if he can secure a suitable deal at another club.
Another central defender, John Kennedy, has been training with Motherwell, with a view to signing on at Fir Park until January. The league champions and Auxerre are in discussion over the transfer of Romanian centre-half Gabriel Tamas, though the fee could yet preclude a move to Glasgow. While Celtic are keen to move on a couple of their older defenders, 20-year-old full-back Paul Caddis has been given a two-year extension to his contract.
