Screpis unhappy at Hearts exit

Fernando Screpis is on his way out at Hearts
Fernando Screpis is on his way out at Hearts after five appearances

Hearts' Argentine midfielder Fernando Screpis claims the club have cancelled his contract, despite agreeing a three-and-a-half year deal a year ago.

New Tynecastle manager Csaba Laszlo is reducing his playing squad and Screpis appears to be an early casualty.

Screpis told the Evening News: "I am sad to leave but I don't think I was given enough chances in the team. I don't think I was treated fairly.

"The new manager only saw me play for less than 40 minutes."

In his first season at Hearts, Screpis made just five appearances and was a second-half substitute against Glentoran, Laszlo's first match in charge.

MY SPORT: DEBATE

Screpis travelled south to turn out as a trialist for Plymouth Argyle in their 2-2 draw with Kidderminster last Friday.

However, Pilgrims manager Paul Sturrock decided his fitness levels weren't at the required level for the Championship side.
