Dutchman Davids given Dons trial
Aberdeen manager Jimmy Calderwood
Calderwood has had good reports about Davids

Sefanja Davids - the nephew of Netherlands midfielder Edgar - is one of three trialists being given the chance to win a contract with Aberdeen.

Davids, previously with Feyenoord, has been joined at Pittodrie by former Walsall goalkeeper Bertrand Bossu and former Cardiff striker Iwan Redan.

Boss Jimmy Calderwood told the Dons' website: "He is a left-sided central defender who comes highly recommended.

"He'll need to get used to the pace here but can certainly play."

Redan played just twice while on loan to Cardiff and was released on his return to Willem II after three years with the Dutch outfit.

St Johnstone have signed former Dundee United striker Collin Samuel on a two-year contract.

The 26-year-old Trinidad and Tobago international arrives from Toronto FC in Major League Soccer.

"Collin enjoyed his time in Canada but his wife and family have been here in Scotland," manager Derek McInnes told the club website.

"He was keen to return, so I spoke with Mo Johnston at Toronto and moved quickly to bring Collin over here."

Samuel had been given training facilities with St Johnstone before returning to the Canadian club for the new Major League Soccer season.

And during that time his former Dundee United teammate McInnes noticed how the player had improved.

"I had six weeks to look at Colin and I think he is a more complete player than he was earlier in his career," the Saints boss said.

"He knows me, he knows a lot of the players from ... Read more »

Fifa blocks Cousin Fulham switch
Daniel Cousin
Cousin's move to Fulham has been blocked by Fifa
Football's governing body Fifa has blocked Rangers striker Daniel Cousin's proposed £3m move to Fulham.

Rangers chief executive Martin Bain said he was "disappointed" with Fifa's decision, adding: "It's been a frustrating time for all parties."

Cousin, 31, had already played for Rangers and Lens this season and Fifa rules stipulate a player cannot appear for more than two teams in one season.

The Gabon striker signed for Rangers from Lens for £1.1m in the summer.

Rangers and Fulham agreed a fee for the forward in January, but Cousin's transfer to the English Premier League required Fifa approval.

I'm more than happy to stay at Rangers and fight for my place

Daniel Cousin

His move has been blocked, although his transfer may still be concluded in the summer.

Bain said Fifa's ruling was a disappointment for everyone involved in the pro ... Read more »
