Aberdeen defender Jackie McNamara has been released from his contract at Pittodrie, the club have announced.
The former Celtic captain - who had a year left on his deal - joined the club last summer after a spell at Wolves.
Boss Jimmy Calderwood told the club's website: "Between travelling and injuries it's been a frustrating spell for him and he's decided to leave.
"He is a great professional and it has been a pleasure to work with him. He'll certainly be a big loss."
It is not yet clear whether the 34-year-old will retire and move in to coaching.
However, Calderwood says he expects to to be lining-up against the former Scotland international in the dug-out soon.
