4:23:49 PM Hearts insist bill has been paid
Hearts say they have paid a bill that led to an office furniture company issuing a writ against them. Lynch McQueen were seeking payment of £12,400 for unpaid invoices and Hearts declined to defend the action at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last month. Hearts were given 14 days to pay to prevent assets being seized or the pursuer seeking a winding-up order. But, although a company source told BBC Sport it still has not been paid, Hearts say a cheque has been forwarded. Hearts spokesman "Hearts paid the outstanding monies by cheque to Lynch McQueen on 22 January," said a club spokesman. "Indeed, as recently as last week, we questioned Lynch McQueen directly as to why they had not cashed the cheque. "It appears that they need to tighten up their own accounting standards before they point the finger at others." The court decided that Hearts should pay the principle, plus interest and costs, amounting to a total of £13,500.
