Chris Burke and Paul Hanlon tussle for possession
It was an end-to-end contest at Easter Road
Hibernian and Rangers cancelled each other out in an entertaining, open Scottish Cup tie at Easter Road.

Both sides came close on several occasions, but neither was able to break the deadlock.

The home side twice had efforts cleared off the line, and Alan McGregor saved a powerful Steven Fletcher drive.

Barry Ferguson, Lee McCulloch and Charlie Adam were all denied goals for Rangers, who ended up with ten men after McGregor was harshly sent off

Early in the match Hibs' Merouane Zemmama showed his ability by leaving two players for dead.

But the Moroccan then frustrated, by holding on to the ball with Brian Kerr free in the box, and Kirk Broadfoot cleared to safety.

Rangers then had an appeal for a penalty waved aside when Steven Naismith appeared to be tripped by Kevin McCann just inside the box.

Scottish Cup
The Scottish Cup fifth-round tie between Motherwell and Dundee at Fir Park has been postponed following a pitch inspection on Friday afternoon.

Well's league game against Celtic on Wednesday also fell victim to the weather due to a waterlogged pitch.

A date for the re-arranged cup tie has yet to be announced.

George Burley wants the friendly played at a later date
Scotland will not face England in a friendly this summer, the Scottish FA has confirmed.

The Auld Enemy were expected to meet in May, but it has been ruled out by Scotland manager George Burley.

Celtic and Rangers players may be unavailable for international duty due to club trips in the close season.

Andrea Caracciolo was a transfer target for Rangers
Caracciolo has struggled for form this season
Brescia have beaten Rangers to the signing of striker Andrea Caracciolo from Sampdoria.

The 26-year-old, co-owned by Palermo and who has struggled for form this season, has instead joined one of his other previous clubs in Serie B.

Caracciolo, twice capped by Italy, has netted just once and had been allowed to talk to other clubs.

Dundee United captain Barry Robson has been given permission to talk to Celtic after the clubs agreed a fee.

Robson - who has scored 12 goals from midfield so far this season - has also been the subject of a seven-figure bid from Nottingham Forest this week.

Alan Hutton
Hutton is highly rated and was linked with Man Utd
Tottenham have completed the protracted transfer of defender Alan Hutton from Scottish club Rangers.

The 23-year-old Scotland right-back, who has six caps, has joined for a fee believed to be in the region of £9m.

"We are delighted to announce we have reached agreement with Glasgow Rangers for the transfer of Alan Hutton," said a statement on Tottenham's website.
