4:25:29 PM Celtic fail in transfer bid
| |
Celtic have had a fresh bid for Burnley striker Kyle Lafferty turned down by the Championship club. The Scottish champions were prepared to offer the Clarets £2.75m plus out-of-favour front man Derek Riorden. Last summer, Celtic manager Gordon Strachan failed to test Burnley's resolve with a £500,000 offer. Rangers are also interested in the 20-year-old Northern Ireland international, who has said he is keen to further his career elsewhere. Lafferty has been on the books at Turf Moor since 2005, and has scored 10 goals in 56 appearances for Owen Coyle's men. The forward, and lifelong Rangers fan, has already won 16 caps for his country, notching five goals.
