Aberdeen are no longer interested in signing Southend's Richie Foran
Aberdeen have dropped their interest in Southend United striker Richie Foran but told supporters the decision has nothing to do with finances.
"I can assure our fans that there were other factors behind the decision," director of football Willie Miller told the club's website.
"Furthermore, the player was just one of a number of potential targets that we are assessing at present.
"We will continue to closely monitor the situation."
Aberdeen have aready signed French goalkeeper Bertrand Bossu on a two-year deal. The 27-year-old recently had spells with Darlington and Walsall.
Midfielders Gary McDonald, 26, formerly of Kilmarnock, has made the switch from Oldham and Irishman Sammy Stewart, 17, has joined from Irish outfit Glenavon.
"The aim is to secure as strong a squad as we possibly can within our budget constraints. We've already brought in Gary McDonald, Bertrand Bossu and young Sam Stewart as well as re-signing Lee Miller and Stuart Duff."
