7:03:12 AM Queens celebrate 90th anniversary
A special celebration is taking place in Dumfries to mark the 90th birthday of its league football club. Queen of the South were formed on 21 March 1919 in a merger of three other teams from the area. A number of the playing stars of years gone by will be presented to fans at Palmerston Park before their league game with Livingston. Club chairman David Rae said he felt it was important to do something to mark such a historic occasion. He said: "There are so many great players that have played from the early 1950s up until recently. "I think it is great that they should come back and meet the fans. "A lot of them were really legends at the club and I think it is absolutely great that they should come back and enjoy the game on Saturday."
